Climate Calling

A project created with young Londoners for young Londoners.

Climate Calling is an initiative for young people (aged 11-14 and 19-22), that provides digital storytelling skills and facilitates discussions about climate change, health, and racial justice. Empowering young voices to make the climate conversation reflect and resonate with the experiences and heritage of all people.

What is Climate Calling?

Climate Calling is a 2-day workshop, where young people co-create a body of work, using virtual & augmented reality and storytelling, culminating in a digital and physical exhibition that tells a new story about climate and racial justice, for and by young people.

By delving into past, present and future patterns of racism and its interconnectedness with climate breakdown participants create digital content that explores and expresses their personal experiences of climate change, health, and race issues in their boroughs.

Why This Topic? What’s The Problem?

Disproportionately affected by climate-linked health issues and racism, young Black and Brown people face challenges like air and water pollution, limited green space access and racism within healthcare access.  Despite their significance, these issues are made invisible by mainstream storytelling about climate change.
